Alicia felt her own appetite disappear, but for appearances sake, she took another bite of pizza.
"Yeah, that's the one," she said after she'd swallowed. The look in Katie's face said it all. Yes, no matter what had happened with her and Pucey, Katie couldn't hear about it. It would just be awkward all around.
"We spent the evening trying to one up the other," she offered. "I'm sure the restaurant will never be the same again."
Then she took a long drink of beer. Strangely, Pucey was the least of the worries she'd had the past few weeks. He was almost the only normal thing.
"I ran into him though later on at that party that Melinda Bobbin had," she said. "He was almost decent. Guess he's not as bad as we remember him being. At least he's better than some of the other people I've been around lately." There, that should distract her.
