Summary: Bill is skiving off work this Friday afternoon. He and Viktor go for a pint.

Bill couldn't take another minute at Gringotts. The place was crawling with Ministry officials and yet, oddly quiet as the goblins had cut back on the hours of anyone who didn't have the 'right' credentials. He'd argued with Griphook about it, but was unable to budge his thoughts on the matter. The bloody goblin didn't see that he'd be next if they didn't stand up to the Ministry.

So he finished up his paperwork and left for the day. If anyone asked, he was taking a long lunch. Or perhaps visiting a business client. He had his bloody passport. Which galled him to no end.

Last week had been the full moon and it seemed as if his mood had been blacker than ever. He felt a bit of relief now that the moon was waning. At least for another three weeks or so. Until the next moon.

After his interview at the ministry along with the long talk with Hestia, Viktor looked at Diagon Alley with new eyes. While he had been suspecting things were going sour, now he had true proof and it was very disconcerting. Part of him wanted to pack up and head back to Bulgaria while part of him wanted stick it out and see where things might go with Hestia.

As he walked he fell in step with another wizard. The footsteps brought Viktor out of his thoughts and he was surprised to recognize the otehr man.

"You are Bill right? Husband of Fleur?"

	Viktor grinned, pleased that he had been able to put the right name to the right Weasley. There were so many of them, he didn't know how they kept them all straight. 	Bill looked around. Things had changed. Shops were closed and everyone hurried around Diagon, heads down, trying not to see, not to be noticed. "It has," he agreed, voice tinged with sadness. Viktor nodded, glad that if he had to see such sadness, someone who could see it too.

"Not a vhole lot really. I vork at the Museum of Quidditch, but things have been very slow lately. I think the curator keeps me on for company. Oh and your Ministry brought me in for questioning for no good reason." He complained lightly.

He knew that he wasn't really in any danger since Bulgaria would protect him at all costs.

"They brought all of us in too." His eyes didn't stay in one place too long. Although it should've just liked as if he were interested in Diagon.

"The museum sounds interesting. I ought to bring my brothers by. Or maybe Fleur. Teach her to appreciate the finer points of the sport," he added with a smile.

"Gringotts is slow too." He wasn't going to go into the reasons why too much.

In someways it was a relief to hear it hadn't been just him that bad been called in and carrying that blasted passport was an affront to his senses apparently it was the new way of life in England.

"Please do come by, ve have an exhibit of the history of the broomstick. They include all ve could find since the beginning of flying. Also for your Fleur, there is the snitch aviary, very romantic I am told."

So the decline was everywhere, if people weren't even willing to forgo banking things were bad. "How long do you think thing vill be like these. They asked me questions about Harry Potter and Hermione. I told them nothing of course."

Bill looked at Viktor for a long moment. "Would you like to get a pint? I know a place." It was Muggle and he'd stumbled upon it a few weeks ago. He had a feeling about the Bulgarian bloke. And they'd need somewhere to talk that was safer. Very few of the Ministry 'supervisors' had a desire to venture into muggle territory. That was the one good thing that came of their prejudice.

He debated giving Viktor the apparition coordinates before shrugging and taking the other bloke's arm. A moment later, they were in an alley behind a pub in London proper. Thankfully, neither of them were in full dress robes and it only took a charm or two to put them in clothes that wouldn't look out of place in a muggle pub.

Bill led them inside and placed an order for two pints with the barkeep before settling into a table where he could keep an eye on the door and the front windows. Just in case.

"Hope you don't mind that I brought you here." Best way to test the bloke's feelings on things like muggles and muggleborns.

The side-along apparation had caught Viktor by surprise but he recovered, if this wizard hadn't been Fleur's husband though he would have been very put out. The quick change in clothing was unexpected at all but that at least made sense because of where they were. He recognized the area, his curry place was two blocks over.

Sitting at a table with a pint in front of him, Viktor shook is head.

"No, is fine, there's a curry place around the corner that's very good, but I've never been here before."

Bill nodded. "Fleur and I'll have to try it sometime then."

He took a large sip of beer. "You asked how long things will be like this. I think they'll get worse before they get better. The entire Ministry is searching for th - two - teenagers. I think that's a fairly good indication of how badly things are going."

Leaning forward, he continued, "Gringotts is cutting back the hours of people who work there. Certain people. Like Fleur. And others. Ministry types hanging about all the time. Making sure that the 'right' people are at the bank."

"Is very good and they deliver, vhich is very nice for bachelor like me." Viktor told him with a grin that faded has he heard Bill's next words. What he was being told sounded so outlandish, a whole government chasing two teenagers seemed like over kill.

"Surely they haven't done anything that bad. Harry seemed like nice kid vhen I met him."

Sensing a need for discreetness Viktor leaned in as well to catch everything Bill might say. He gave the other man a confused look. "Vhat is wrong vith Fleur, she seems like capable vich. Vhat is right people to the Ministry?"

"Harry is a nice kid. They think he killed Dumbledore." Bill wasn't exactly sure what had gone on at the top of that tower, but he was certain that Harry hadn't killed Dumbledore. "Which is preposterous."

He sipped at his beer. "Fleur is part Veela." Viktor still looked confused. "Not pureblood. And my family are blood traitors. For consorting with that. 'Course they're not exactly sure that I am anymore." He fiddled with his pint glass, turning it around in one hand. "Since...the attack."

He nodded, his brief memories of Harry agreed with Bill's assessment of the teen. There was no way Harry was a killer.

"Vhy vould they think such a thing, he is kid, not dangerous."

Viktor coudldn't believe that she would have been left go from her job because she wasn't a pureblood. One of Hermione's letters had told him about the attack.

"You are still vizard yes? It sounds like the Ministry has lost it's mind. But it explains survey I received. Vhat nonsense like vhat Grindevald try." he said heatedly causing his accent to get stronger.

"Yes, I'm still a wizard. But I'm...tainted." Bill shook his head. He didn't know why he was going into all of this with a virtual stranger. Yes, he knew that Fleur trusted Viktor, but he didn't really know the bloke.

"The survey about your blood?" he asked, glad to change the subject. "Things are going to get worse. Unless people stand up to the Ministry." He wondered if Viktor knew anything of the Order. Perhaps it was time to start recruiting.

Viktor frowned but still nodded. He had heard the pure of blood rhetoric before, there had been talk like that at Durmstang here and there but he had been raised to know it was nonsense.

"Yes, and I made sure my government knew I vas being questioned. I do not trust your Ministry, that voman in my interview vas insane. The English people must stop being sheep and stand up for their own sake. You have vorld vorth protecting, yes?

A bloke outside caught his eyes. Surely the Ministry hadn't sent someone to muggle London to follow him. On the off chance that Bill wasn't being paranoid, he decided against having another pint.

"Let me know if you want to hear more sometime, Viktor." He tilted his head toward the window. "I think we might have some admirers. Perhaps it's time to head back. You alright getting back?"

Viktor turned in the direction that Bill was indicating and gave the other man a tight nod. Their discussion had been very enlightening and he felt better knowing that there were people willing to do more than just watch things fall apart.

"Ve should really have a drink again, vith proper chat vhen you have time I don't live far from here so I valk home tonight. Thanks for company, owl vhen you like?"

It was a lot to process but he knew he wanted to see more. The England of his youth was gone but seeing it in this state was unacceptable.
