Alicia had finished at the office, feeling discouraged. She'd been preparing for her trip to France later in the week only to have it canceled at the last moment. Apparently the Ministry was cracking down on travel out of the country now. Yes, she had her passport, as creepy as that was, but she had to go on a clearance list until they would be certain she wasn't a threat and then she would be allowed to travel.
Not encouraging at all.
She didn't like to think that part of the reason she'd wanted to get away was Selwyn and the strange conversation they'd had the night before.
There was something odd about him, and the tentative questions she'd asked both of a few people at work and amongst her acquaintance were either avoided or unable to be answered.
He was a Pureblood, worked at the Ministry, that was the most that anyone knew.
She'd gotten home from work and showered before settling in wrapped up in her favorite pajamas and with a thought of drinking most of the bottle of wine she had handy.
The knock at the door startled her and, wand in hand, she went to answer it, her hand pausing on the knob.
