Penny wished she hadn't said anything to his apology, if she hadn't she wouldn't be in this awkward situation. Penny glanced to the side only to see his mouth dropped in wide in shock and it just made her feel work. "I...didn't," she had no clue what to say at this moment. She had just made a right mess of things hadn't she.
She felt like her entire body was bright red and it took so much effort just to move. She felt more embarrassed just because of the look on his face. She really hadn't meant to say something so awkward. Penny hadn't gotten over Percy but that didn't mean she had to say something like that.
Penny had never thought to act on her feelings as she had little faith that Percy still felt the same way. When they broke up Penny hadn't wanted that, but at the time it seemed to be what was necessary.
"Sorry about that," she said quietly as she tired to make it to the cupboard to get the tomato sauce. Penny hoped that they could just go on like she hadn't said something but it was kind of hard to ignore. Penny couldn't stop thinking about the words she had said. Did she actually mean what she had said? Trying not to dwell on that question too much she grabbed the tin from the cupboard.
