That drew a bark of laughter from him. "I think I might be able to stand for paying for your dinner," he allowed, returning her smile. "After all, you were kind enough to let me sit with you, weren't you? It's the least I can do."
Their food arrive then, preventing him from replying to her question for a moment. As he picked at his fish dinner, he shook his head. "Bask away, then, Miss Spinnet. I'm rather fond of making you wonder, I think."
She definitely didn't seem to be all that adverse to his company, which was a definite plus. Perhaps she didn't know anything about him then. That would be useful. Stupid of her, but useful.
