Alicia froze in her chair, suddenly pinned by his gaze, feeling scared when she hadn't before.
It had just been a thought in her head, that they would next try to stop people from getting their money. She hadn't meant to say it aloud.
"But isn't it common for the goverment to block criminal's access to their funds?" she asked, looking up at him. Their eyes met and she wasn't certain what she saw in his only that it was dangerous and she was very worried about making a misstep. That frightened her, because she wasn't a cowardly person normally. She sensed, however, that this wasn't a man to mess around with.
"I mean... I read in the paper that there are... people being sought for stealing magic. Certainly that is a crime." Please let him not hear the tremor in her voice. The words felt like poison in her mouth, but she suddenly realized how very bad an idea it might be if he knew how she really felt.
