Melinda rolled her eyes, pulling Cho a little away from Old Jack and his shite protections.
"Hardly," she said, giving her friend a look. Or at least Cho had been a friend. Melinda wasn't quite so sure now that she still was since she'd thought Melinda stupid enough to depend on someone else for her charmwork. Honestly. They'd spent seven years in a dorm together. She would have hoped Cho would know her a wee bit better. "Didn't I tell you? I'm the newest secretary in the Office for the Detection and Confiscation of Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects. At least I think that's the name. Really, what were those idiots thinking? They could at least have had the courtesy to make it something that fits into a nice, neat acronym like MLE or MSG."
Tucking the broach into her purse, she shrugged. "So I'm out, purchasing potentially counterfeit protective objects on my day off because my boss decided I needed some first hand experience. Or something. I think it's utter shite because now everyone will think I'm an incompetent twat who can't do her own spellwork and has to rely on people like Old Jack with the utterly foul breath to do it for her. It's impugning my reputation!"
