The first protection amulet cart had nearly run her over in an attempt to get her to stop. It was really, terribly annoying, and she fully planned to make a complaint on it to the Aurors tomorrow morning.
"What's this one do?" she asked, pointing to an incredibly ugly broach that, according to the hand-lettered (and badly spelled, she noticed) sign, was a 'guarunted protection against Avada Kedavra'.
"Oh, miss, it protects, it does. Against the Curse," he said, leaning forward so she could smell his none-too-sweet breath. "And for you, such a pretty lass, old Jack will take a galleon off the price of it."
She raised her brow. Take a galleon off? "How much is it to start with, then?"
"Three galleons. The charms, they are challenging to master, and if they're not done right ..." He trailed off, holding out his hands.
She pretended to think. Old Jack was going to get his scrawny, smelly arse arrested, is what was going to happen.
"Hmm, well, I'll take one, then," she said, digging into her coin purse and pulling out two galleons. Old Jack gave her a little look, eyes darting to her purse as she quickly tied the strings shut and put it back into her bag.
As he was wrapping it for her, she heard her name. Turning, she saw Cho, bundled up despite the heat. Taking the bag from Old Jack, she waved at Cho, smiling.
"Cho!" she said, crossing the street to give her friend a hug. "What are you shopping for today?"
