The heavy thud of a body hitting the wall dislodged a fine haze of plaster dust from the ceiling and distracted Bella's attention from the creature clawing at its own limbs at her feet.

As she shook her dark hair loose, she watched McGavin from the corner of her eye. The man was already panicking from being attacked by his subordinant, but it was gratifying to see fresher, deeper terror bloom on his face when he recognized who exactly had his sub-human mate at her mercy.
The woman's mewling cries were being to grate on her nerves. Perhaps a different tone of pain would be more pleasing.
