Pippin & Kaz
Outside of the Crows and a few select others, it was rare anyone ever smiled at the sight of Kaz Brekker. Most tended to frown...if Kaz left them alive long enough to manage that expression. Most turned and headed in the opposite direction when they glimpsed the Bastard of the Barrel. Then again, they weren't potentially marooned with him, alone, on an island either. Circumstances changed everything.
Pippin turned and headed back in his direction, coming to a halt in front of him. There was a definitive bounce in her step and Kaz had to wonder if she was always this energetic. Then again, circumstances were everything and maybe she was simply just really happy to see a familiar face.
"Yes, Kaz," he replied. "And I know. I believe we spoke before when the hounds were being a nuisance." Nuisance was putting it lightly of course. They had been a downright danger to all of the refugees on Stroma at the time. Pippin's knowledge had been what eventually saved them in the end.
Kaz joined her in glancing around once more, but, unlike Pippin, Kaz could not say the place was familiar. "Venturing inland might also provide us with some shelter," Kaz added, gaze falling back on her smiling face.
