Kaz and Stephen
After reading Zoya's post on the network, Kaz decided he should investigate the items washing up on shore for himself. It was possible that this was the olive branch Kaz had spoken to Ben about earlier. The merpeople were potentially interested in an alliance and Kaz wanted to ensure it happened. The hound situation should have shown everyone that whoever was in charge did not play fairly and the refugees needed whatever help they could get.
Obviously, there was the chance that the merfolk were playing with them. That these sea people were not sincere in their efforts for a potential peace. There was also the chance it was a trap of some kind. Kaz had already considered all of the possible outcomes. He was approaching the situation from a place of pessimism as they all should. Gifts did not equal friends. Having been someone to use gifts as a ruse often, he was well aware of how easily people could be taken with such offerings. It was best to expect the worst in people. In that regard, you were never disappointed when they unfortunately proved you right and Kaz rarely found they didn't.
Tugging his leather gloves from home over his long, pale fingers, Kaz picked up his Crow's head cane and left the home he shared with the other Crows. He headed in the direction of the beach and even with his limp, it did not take him long to get there. His eyes immediately landed on the containers and items scattered along the edge of the beach. Bending down, he plucked one of the intricate tools from the sand and examined it in his fingers. The craft work was immaculate. He'd never seen anything made from coral before, but why were they receiving these gifts now?
Kaz looked out at the sea and spotted the heads bobbing in the water. He took a step closer to the water's edge, cane sinking into the soft sand, and wondered if they would approach. Hands shifted to rest on the Crow's head and he kept his gaze on the shadowed faces a few feet from shore. What was their angle? Could it be a sincere gesture?
[ooc: We are up for interaction of the mermaid variety!]
