Kate's uniform may have had holes in the hips, but the body armor was plenty warm. She was thankful for it, too, as the wind from the sea whipped her hair around and the chill bit at her earlobes. Stupid wind from the sea. Stupid hair. Stupid --
She stopped when a voice sounded. A man's voice. Not one she recognized.
Lucky took off like a shot, tail wagging and whimpering at the prospect of meeting a new friend.
"Lucky!" Kate called out in an angry whisper. "Stupid dog! YOu're supposed to protect me! Where are you going??" And then she broke through the brush and came face to face with... some guy.
She must have looked a mess. Sunglasses on top of her head, hair a mess, wearing her purple uniform and carring her bow and arrows. Like a superhero straight off the pages of a comic book.
"Uh... hi." She said, as Lucky approached his new best friend, begging for attention. The dog stopped and sat down in front of the man, his tail wagging frantically.
