Alyssa and Ed (Day 1 evening)
It had been - a long day. Not in the same way as the last two, Edmund admitted. It was a relief to take a break from constant fighting. That might be part of the reason he'd finally given in and stopped by the banquet. A battle always left him hungrier than usual, and while he still trusted food of their own preparation more, they didn't know how long they would need to make it last. As long as they were here, and until his family could find a place safer, Edmund suddenly wanted to stay here.
Borrowed time, yes, but he'd lived on borrowed time since he was nine years old. Borrowing from the look he'd seen in Susan's eyes, however... he would prevent that for as long as he possibly could.
That meant picking up the plans that had been put off by the hounds' attack. It was, he supposed, an ulterior motive for taking a seat next to Alyssa, but he did like what he knew of her from the network, as well as from Caspian. Seeing her tiny companion's antics made him laugh. "But that wouldn't be nearly as fun for him."
