Sharon and Kaz
After night in which Kaz slept very little, the thief found him up before sunrise. Following careful investigation of the brown package with his name on it, Kaz had indulged in some of the items and was now clean with his hair combed neatly on his head. Thanks to Nina, his wounds had practically healed, but Kaz was still in some pain as he leaned heavily on his cane and watched the sun rise from the door frame of the Crows' home.
The howling and baying of the hounds had faded overnight and with every corner of the house now rounded, the animals hadn't been able to touch Inej. Kaz didn't dare hope for a reprieve, but one would certainly be nice. Everyone, not just the Crows, needed time to recover and heal. Kaz placed a tentative gloved hand on his side; the wound was still sensitive, but the pain had faded to dull ache. It didn't matter; Kaz possessed a high tolerance for pain. It was why he was able to get around even without the help of a cane.
The familiar sound of the bell shattered the silence of the early morning. Immediately, Kaz was suspicious. The bell only tolled for feasts and those happened at sunset, not sun rise. Yet, the bell sounded, beckoning them all for a meal and potential information. Kaz limped back into the house and quickly scrawled a note for the rest of the team. After yesterday, they needed their sleep, especially Inej and Nina.
Because Kaz knew the way, it didn't take him long to reach the white house. Of course his attention was drawn to the note and he read it more than once. The hounds sounded like a test. It was starting to feel more and more like this place was playing a sick game with all of them. The Bastard of the Barrel didn't like it one bit. He would figure out who was behind this and then come up with a plan to bargain for the Crows freedom. For the freedom of everyone.
Hobbling inside, Kaz ignored the food despite his stomach growling and headed for the coffee. A familiar blond woman was also standing there, filling a cup with the steaming caffeinated brew. If he recalled correctly, which he usually did, her name was Sharon.
"It would appear as if you are in need of caffeine as much as I am," Kaz said as he reached for the pot to generously fill his own cup.
