Re: Lu and Cas
When the bell tolled, Caspian was outside and in the process of walking the perimeter of their home. Since they'd placed rounded angles around the corners of the home, there had been no sign of the hounds. However, Caspian could not relax. The hounds had come for him and Lucy; he couldn't sleep until he knew they were gone for good.
But, perhaps the toll of the bell signaled as much? With the arrival of the feast, could it also mean the departure of the dogs as well? He'd paused, considering what to do, when he saw Lucy slip from the house and head in the direction of the feast. No doubt she was as hungry as he was. As if in response to even the thought of food, his stomach gave an impatient growl. Perhaps a small bit of substance was required. Plus, Lucy and Caspian could watch each other's backs if the hounds were still lurking around.
Sheathing his sword, Caspian made his way to the white house and paused to read the note on the door. The words left a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach. It sounded as if the hounds had been put upon them as a sort of test. What other tests did this place have in store for them? The king did his best to put the thought from his mind and focus on eating. He would be no good in another fight if he did not eat nor would his wounds heal. His head was much better, but there remained a bandage on the temple from where he'd been struck down.
Entering, he easily spotted Lucy among the refugees. However, he forced himself to make a plate of food (anything from Narnia found its way to the ceramic surface) and made a mental note to keep whatever possible from the meal. They had a freezer now to preserve leftovers. Settling on water as his beverage of choice, Caspian finally made his way over to the blond and offered her a smile. He'd seen the way she'd gulped down her tea and he couldn't blame her. Caspian was starving himself.
"Good morning, Lucy," Caspian greeted, doing his best to sound far more awake than he truly felt. Not sleeping a full night had certainly taken its toll.
