A smile tugged at his lips as she leaned up and brushed her lips against his neck. Just from the small gesture, he could tell how much she appreciated his words.
"I would certainly hope not," Kol replied, tone playful and amusement visible in the depths of his chocolate eyes. Yes, he knew how much Davina missed those she cared for in New Orleans, but at the time, Kol simply wanted to get as far away from the place that had brought them so much misery. He wanted her safe and in New Orleans that was not going to happen.
The vampire shook his head. "I don't blame you for not wanting to hope, Davina. If I was in your place, I probably would have done the same." As she said, hope could be dangerous. Kol didn't like to think of Davina moving on, but, at the same time, he always wanted her to be happy and safe even if he wasn't in the picture.
Her laugh was pure bliss and those words touched him deeply. "That makes two of us, darling," he replied. "I am never quite whole until I am with you, Davina." Being apart from her always caused Kol to feel as if some piece of him was missing. Without her, the world felt darker, colder, and Kol reverted back to that demon in the dark.
At the mention of her living with Hayley and now Elijah, Kol frowned. "Yes, we can find another place. I am certainly not living under the same roof as the two of them." No way did he want to hear his brother in compromising positions with Hayley. Yuck. Now that was what nightmares were truly made of.
