Kol thought it made him look a bit older. However, he still maintained his devilish, handsome features beneath. If she didn't like it, he could remove it, but it might prove difficult on an island where they had barely any supplies. At the moment though, that was the furthest thing from his mind. He was just glad to be holding her in his arms. Safe.
The vampire offered a small smile. "It does end with us married, love. But it isn't an easy road to get there." And if he told her about what Freya and Elijah did to her, how they allowed her soul to be shredded, she would never forgive him brother and sister. She made a truce with Klaus only to potentially engage in a fight with his other siblings. The irony was not lost on Kol. Yet he could not lie to her. Would not lie to her. She deserved better than that.
Taking her hand, Kol led her over to a fallen log and took a seat. He tugged her gently down beside him. The vampire turned to face her and took both her hands in his own. "What I am about to tell you is going to hurt Davina. It is going to be painful. I almost don't want to tell you because I know you and you will be upset."
Kol sighed and looked down at their hands before his gaze shifted to her face once more. His eyes were sad. "Elijah and Freya release you from the protective circle in order to tap into power to protect our family."
