"No, I don't think we could raise them," Michelle said. She continued working on the rabbit. "They're sea birds, and migratory. Plus, they're scavengers or predators, and those generally don't taste very good, I'm told. But eggs--those we can eat."
"There's nothing like that where I'm from. Nobody with superpowers at all. No werewolves or witches or vampires, either."
"I'm going to let you start the fire," Michelle said with a grin, holding up her bloody hands. "I just thought you might like to use something faster than a fire bow. It's in my bag there."
Once the rabbit was butchered, Michelle walked to the nearest stream to wash her hands. She returned, with her hands stuffed under arms. "Man, that water is cold," she remarked. Kate the fire going by then.
"God, don't remind me," Michelle said when Kate mentioned condiments. "We can get salt from seawater, but otherwise food here is going to be fairly bland for a while. Next time I rob a pirate ship, I'm going looking for spices."
