Michelle was impressed. Kate made it look easy. Michelle had fooled around with a bow just enough to know it was not easy. "No," Michelle said, despite wanting to see if Kate got the next one as easily. "One rabbit will feed the two of us."
The walked over to retrieve the body, and Kate's arrow. The other rabbits, unsurprisingly, had vanished. Michelle placed the body in a rough canvas bag she'd found, and tied it to her belt. "Shall we move on?"
The next couple of hours involved exploring several small streams--drinking their fill and refilling Michelle's water bottle--as well as pond, and a well. The well was covered and there was no bucket, but it was good see that it was available.
Another find was a large mass of thorns and leaves growing near one of the cliffs on the shore. "Ooh, blackberries!" Michelle said. There were no berries this time of year, but the plant was alive and seemingly healthy. "We can take some cuttings later and plant them in more convenient places."
"I'm getting hungry," she said to Kate. "If you want to gather some tinder, and some wood, I'll start preparing the rabbit and we'll make a fire. Have you ever butchered a rabbit?"
