Kaz considered the explanation. "More likely I feel as if she meant something to this ghost." And a ghost could not orchestrate a kidnapping. "But perhaps you are correct and she means something to whoever brought us here." Anything and everything was a possibility at this point.
The insults were directed at Kaz too. It was only experience with being bullied that kept his emotions in check. After all, Kaz saw his disability as as strength. There was no part of him that was better for being broken and he merely saw the damaged appendage as part of that which made him Kaz Brekker.
Kaz quickly skimmed through the pages. The story was tragic, but also provided insight as to who that woman was in the picture and the reason why they should not venture into the water. The insults had become background noise at this point and it was Nina's voice that pulled Kaz from his thoughts.
"Nina." Kaz straightened and slipped the logbook into his satchel. "He is annoying, but let's not-" There was suddenly loud, violent noises coming from the other room and Kaz knew it was the ghost. Perhaps he was reacting to Kaz taking things from the lighthouse. In any case, they had to get out of here before he decided to hurl things at them.
"Time to go." Kaz slipped from the room, knowing Nina was on his heels, and kept his gaze averted from the ghost as he headed for the stairs. Something suddenly collided with the wall above his head and Kaz whipped his head around. All he saw the the snarling lighthouse keeper. A few inches lower and Kaz could have been knocked on conscious.
He started down the stairs, aware that there was crashing coming from the floor they just exited.
