That wasn't the impression the Grisha had when looking at the picture. It felt like a piece of treasure, kept as a memento. Finally Nina whispered, "It feels more like an important keepsake, possibly kept by someone who lost this woman. Maybe the person who kidnapped us here?"
Quiet again, Nina wanted to fill the space to drown out the ghost who hurled insults at them. Given all of the terrible insults hurled at her in the orphanage about her size, Nina heard worse and could ignore it.
"Well, if nothing else, it's more than we had before." When the ghost hurled a particular insult Nina couldn't help herself. "By the Saints could you please shut up? Nobody cares. You're annoying."
