Popping by his office wasn't necessarily a show for the gossip blogs and photographers. If anything it was a show for the secretaries and the office rats and the receptionists and the security details on the bottom floor. All of these people would go home and tell their families about how today Margaery Tyrell came to visit her fiancé, and how she smiled at them and even knew their name. Margaery knew this, because they had so carefully cultivated this image for year now, the beautiful couple who were also easy and friendly, not too posh to talk to ordinary people.
Stepping through the doors her body guard was holding open for her, Margaery smiled at the reception workers, one who came at once to escort her up to Renly's office. "Hello Mikey, nice to see you're working today. I hope the news about the engagement didn't bring trouble to your door?" The man blushed faintly with pleasure, and responded that they had been able to handle the paparazzi, Miss Tyrell and might he say congratulations on behalf of him and his crew. Margaery smiled at that, chatted easily with him for a few moments until the elevator dinged its arrival and stepped inside.
Perhaps she should have called ahead after all. She wasn't met by the usual bustle, the open doors, the air of energy that she was used to. Instead she could see Renly's office door was firmly shut, his secretary smiled at catching sight of the future Mrs Baratheon, but had a harried look in her eyes. "I'm so sorry Miss Tyrell, Mr Baratheon is in a meeting right now." Margaery considered the seating options, the fresh flowers, the tasteful art on the walls. She took off her sunglasses and put them in her bag, smiling at the secretary. "It's alright, I can wait. Just figured I'd stop by and give Renly a kiss. Don't want to leave with my mission a failure." And with that she ignored the nervous secretary and sat down on the sofa, crossing her legs.
