I hear in some parts of the world there are elevators, but I'd never been in one before I came here. And some buildings have lights, but they run off their own generators and are mostly owned by rich people... my home doesn't have any."
He smiled and patted at the horse's shoulder pleasantly, resisting an urge to try to get him to move faster. That probably wouldn't go over well.
