Last night had been a long night, getting both his sister and Laurel out of Verdant was, well, pretty painful. But he'd finally managed to at least get Laurel to bed. He'd given her his bed to sleep off everything he'd had to drink while he took the couch. He hadn't slept all that well after they'd gotten home though, laying awake while his mind ran too hard. There'd been a very brief consideration to follow Laurel's way to pass out, but stubbornness had kept him from even trying it.
Instead, he let himself toss and turn before finally falling into a light sleep. Not that he ever slept heavy anymore. Body and instincts too wired after everything to ever be at complete rest. It's the reason the slightest creak of the board just outside his bedroom had him awake and sitting up as he turned to look that way. "Hey, Laurel."
