He wasn't going to leave. He wasn't going to leave and someone was going to get hurt. It wasn't right for that person to be Lexa, any more than for it to be Clarke. Or Bellamy. She'd said she was going to handle it, and she had. Why couldn't he just let her handle it? They needed Lexa. She was the commander, and they needed the Grounders as their allies. There was so much more at stake here than just Clarke's life, and it was like he refused to see the big picture.
"You're not going to shoot her." Clarke said. "Just do what she's asking. Go back and take care of our people." She was pleading with him. Tensions were high, but she was unwavering. Why couldn't he listen to her for one minute? "She's a leader too, just like us. This is the decision I made. You have to go, I don't want anyone to get hurt here." She told him. "There's no reason for anyone to get hurt. All you have to do is walk away, why can't you just walk away?" The tears came more freely now, but she was careful not to let them overwhelm her.
"My life it isn't worth losing 47 of our people to the Mountain Men. It's not. I've seen that place...I know what they do. Grounders don't deserve that any more than we do." She took in a breath. "You have to go, this has to end with me."
