Whatever she had with Bellamy was completely different than the relationship that she'd shared with Finn. She wasn't settling for him because she couldn't be with Finn. She wanted to be with Bellamy, even if she didn't think she deserved it. She couldn't be with Finn, not after she'd been the one to kill him. It had been a mercy, but it still weighed heavily on her mind and heart. Finn and Raven had a second chance here, and they should take it.
She and Bellamy hadn't even liked each other at first. They'd butted heads on more than one occasion, and Clarke was fairly certain he wanted to kill her or at least seriously maim her, at one point. But everything had changed between them. It changed even before Storybrooke. Now they went back and forth between here and there, and at home they didn't remember this place...but the feelings were always there.
She hadn't been looking to get into anything again, not so soon. But Bellamy had surprised her, and so had the feelings she had been denying concerning him. And now they were both mass murderers. Though they could relate, did they deserve to find some measure of happiness here? She thought about this, as she listened to his words. He loved her. She wasn't ready to say it back. She was actually terrified to even think about it. If she said it, what it would mean...and what would happen because of it.
His last words brought tears to her eyes, and she couldn't quite fight them off. She was the best person he'd ever known? He really needed to meet some new people then. She amused herself a bit by that thought, and reached out to touch his hand. She wiped at the tears pooling in her eyes with her free hand.
"Thank you." It was simple, of course. But he'd said what she needed to hear. He'd spoken from the heart, and she knew he wasn't just trying to appease her, or to ease her guilt. Somehow she felt better around him in general. Was it love? Probably. She just couldn't bring herself to say it yet. "You're pretty great, yourself."
