Being trapped in a prison town wasn't as bad as Kira thought it would be when she'd first arrived. It was odd, that was a given, but it seemed nice enough. The locals were friendly, they'd provided free housing, there was still school to go to to keep her occupied, and whoever had done the magic had at least done it in a way that it had brought people she'd known from home here, too. That was a blessing, because Kira wasn't sure she wanted to go through the entire process of making friends from scratch. New ones to go with the currents ones was fine, but if she had no one she knew? Well, that would have made it a little less bearable.
As it was, she'd seen several people she knew from home. One of whom she was going to visit at the moment, the overwhelming urge to do so having hit her hard enough that she'd been unable to resist. Which, in itself was a little odd. It wasn't that Kira didn't like Malia, but she'd never had this sort of antsy desire to see her. The kind of feelings that were usually reserved for Scott or other people she'd had romantic interests in. It was confusing, to say the least, but strong enough that she'd found herself on the way to the place she knew Malia was staying at without really having thought about it.
It was only after she'd turned onto the right street that Kira really thought about it, finally coming to the conclusion that it must just be because Malia was from home. She was familiar, comforting in that she was a friend. Still, there was the nagging thought in Kira's head that, no, this wasn't the kind of urge she usually got when she wanted to see Lydia, for example. Pushing the thought out of her mind, she tried not to fidget, a tell-tale sign she was nervous about being there. Which was another thing - since when was she nervous about seeing Malia?
Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door, realizing only after the fact that she didn't have a real reason she was here beyond hey, I wanted to see you. Which was fine, right? Friends did that all the time. Yet, Kira suddenly felt stupid, like this was a colossally bad idea. But now that she'd knocked, it was either run away and look even more stupid, or play it off like she wasn't having some confusing feelings about Malia that had made her come by. The second option was definitely the better one, and Kira smiled nervously as the door started to open, her hand already coming up to wave at whoever it was that was there.
