[Private - Jughead Jones [info]youngserpent]

You better get your ass home right now boy and Archie better be with you. I'm giving you boys half an hour before I come looking.

[Edited well past the expiry of his deadline]

You are making it worse for yourself, boy. Fred and I have already decided it's time to put some space between you boys for awhile.

[Private - Fred Andrews [info]honoraryserpent | FP Jones - [info]retiredking | Alice Cooper - [info]nextbrickithrow]

The boys are playing that damn game.

You do realize that if you keep talking to me we can't get home, right? Because I have to focus on what you're saying.

Good plan because even the hospital will not save you from what is about to happen at home.

[FP was not happy. The boys had defied both him and Fred and took their sweet time to return to the house. But as angry as he was, he was scared. Scared that his boy was toying with a very, very dangerous game and it could result in either, or both, of those boys dying. He couldn't allow it. It was his duty as a father to protect his kids and he would protect Jughead against himself.

FP was leaning against the wall close to the front entrance with his arms crossed when the door opened and the boys walked through it. He glared at both of them, seeing Archie shift his weight uncomfortably under his glare.]</strike>

You boys are late. I said a half an hour.

[Well... that was definitely an ominous text. Though, he knows that his old man wouldn't lay a hand on him. Even if that statement alone is kind of scary.

Even scary was opening that door and seeing his old man leaning against the wall. Crap... Even when he turns to look back behind them, because hey... there needed to be some kind of escape. But, nope, Fred was right there. Crap and double crap.]

New town. Easy to get lost in, dad.

[FP would never lay a hand on his boy, no matter how angry he was. He was and would never be like his old man.

FP watched as his boy assessed their situation and he was glad that Fred decided to wait outside until they came home. He could see that his boy was getting ready to flee but Fred standing behind them left the boys nowhere to go.]

I'm not buying that boy. When I tell you to do something, you do it.

[His head nodded to the living room.] Get in here and sit down. Both of you.

[Archie wanted to go home just as much as Jughead did but he knew that their old men would tear this town apart until they found them. When they walked into the house, Archie's stomach dropped when he spotted FP leaning against the wall. Archie took a step backwards but was stopped by his dad. Crap.

When FP ordered the boys to sit down, Archie wanted to do everything but that.]

We didn't play the game FP! We didn't do anything wrong.

[He really hated the fact that Fred was never too far from his old man. It meant if his dad didn't get a hold of him, then Fred would. They couldn't exactly escape, no matter how much they wanted to.]

We were doing it.

[Fred narrows his eyes on the boys and then raises a brow when his own son tried to tell FP that they didn't play the game.]

You boys didn't get home in the time you were given, so don't give that crap. Just march your asses in there and sit down like you were told.

[Jughead makes a bit of a face at Fred before looking at his dad.]

He's not wrong, dad. We didn't play the game.

[FP narrowed his eyes at his boy.] You didn't answer my text until I threatened you with Red and then you boys dragged your asses getting home. Get in the living room and sit down! Now, boys! [He wanted both kids in the living room but FP would let Fred deal with his own son's punishment. Archie was Fred's boy and he would not overstep his boundaries unless Fred gave him permission to discipline his son, at least when it was non-Serpent issues.]

[Archie looked at his dad when he spoke and told them to sit down like they were told to do.]
As Jughead said. New town. We got lost. [It wasn't true but hopefully their dads would buy it. Archie, however, didn't move a muscle. He wouldn't move until his best friend did. Where Jughead went, so did Archie. Instead, he glanced at his best friend, ignoring the stare down FP was giving them.]

The fact that you boys were thinking about playing. Trying to recruit people to play is enough. [The other Jughead involved a Mikaelson's kid.] You boys don't understand how dangerous that game is!

[Yelling was never a good sign. Half the time that meant his old man was about to get right up in their face. Damned if they did and damned if they didn't. The fact that his best friend was defying his own dad now wasn't really a good thing.

He glances over to his best friend before moving into the living room and plopping down on the couch, arms crossed over his chest, leaning back against his messenger bag.]

Gee, dad, I wonder why we don't understand how dangerous it is.

[Fred narrows his eyes]

The GPS on those phones work just fine in this town, boys. So don't you dare lie to me again, Archibald. You boys weren't lost in the least bit. I should let FP deal with you since I'm pretty sure you're the reason why Jughead didn't come straight home.

[FP was doing his best to stay calm. He was seething and he wanted to both shake and hug his boy. Shake the boy until he promised to leave the game alone and hug him and never let him go because FP couldn't bear the thought of Jughead getting hurt or dying because of this game. FP was a strong man but he'd break if Jughead died. FP was scared, damn it.

When the boys did what they were told and were sitting on the couch, it didn't escape FP's notice that Jughead didn't lose the bag. He'd be inspecting that bag shortly. He pushed off from the wall and joined the boys in the living room, pacing to keep himself in check.]

Lose the attitude, boy! [His eyes narrowed on his son.]

People have died from the game, Jughead! That alone should be enough of reason to leave that game alone not to mention the fact that I ordered you to stay away from it! You have lost classmates to it! Do you want to be the next funeral your friends have to attend?!

Archie followed his best friend into the living room, not meeting FP's eyes as they passed him. He sat down right next to Jughead. When his dad suggested that he let FP deal with him, Archie glanced between his dad and FP. He wasn't sure that option was any better. Archie had also told his dad that he was on his way home before Jughead had decided to go home but Archie wasn't going to tell the men that. He was going down with Jughead.] We wanted to pay attention to where we were walking. Texting and walking has led to serious injuries, dad. [Archie didn't know that for sure but it sounded good.]

[Those arms stay crossed over his chest as he watches his dad pace through the living room. It almost reminded him of a caged wild cat that was ready to rip apart anything that slipped into its path. Or maybe just a caged cat who was ready to kill.]

Do you actually KNOW it's from the game itself and not from the people playing it? No one is going to attend my funeral because there isn't going to be one, dad! I don't believe that the game itself is dangerous. It's a damn game.

[Fred clenches his jaw and narrows his eyes at Jughead before hearing his boy.]

Archibald, stop while you're ahead.

[He wasn't having any of the bullshit talk. It might of sounded good in Archie's head, but Fred wasn't buying it.]

[FP continued to pace the living room, it helped him expend the bottled up anger and fear that he was feeling.

When Jughead questioned him about the game, FP clenched his jaw. This is the last thing that he wanted to talk about with his son. He wanted the boys to leave the game alone but he knew how Jughead was when he got something in his head. He wouldn't leave well enough alone.]

The game gets inside of your head, boy. It makes you lose sense of reality.....it becomes and addiction. It makes you do things that you normally wouldn't do. [How many times did the Midnight Club play the game back in the day? What had started out as an innocent game had become much darker. Things happened that nobody knew who was responsible, like sending the invitations to Ascension Night. Their principal had died but none of the players knew how the goblets came to be in the school that night. Both group's game masters said they were not responsible for setting the event up.]

You already did something risky already with the game. I don't know who you played with but you drank from the goblet, knowing full well that your classmates had died from doing the same thing! You risked your life for a goddamned game! [FP took a breath to keep himself in check. The thought of losing his boy terrified him.]

[His eyes narrowed on Jughead.] Where's the game, boy? [He suspected that it was in the boy's bag but if it wasn't, he'd find it.]

[Archie sat on the couch listening to the exchange between Jughead and FP, glaring at his dad when he told him to stop while he's ahead.]

I agree with Jughead. It's just a game. I still don't see what the big deal is. Nothing is going to happen when we play it!

[Jughead wanted to tell his old man to sit down and stop pacing. His dad was making him dizzy doing that and was bound to put a hole in the floor.

As for leaving it alone, that wasn't bound to happen. Not when he wanted to get more into the game, to ascend to the next level.]

We don't know who or what killed my classmates, dad. That game hasn't done anything. People have done things, but I don't believe it's the game.

[He's quiet for a moment.]

I don't have the game.

[Fred narrows his eyes on Jughead then on his own boy.]

It's not just a game, Archie. People have died because of it. FP's right, it gets into your head. It makes you do things that you wouldn't do. Our own principal was died because of this damn game.

[He's still not sure, himself, who orchestrated the Ascension party.]

[It's a good thing that Jughead didn't tell FP to sit down. Likely the only person FP would allow to tell him that right now was Fred. Outside of Alice, Fred was the only other person who can keep FP's temper in check....most of the time, anyways.]

I know good and well what killed your classmates Jughead. That damn game did it. [He didn't know exactly how but he wasn't going to let those boys sitting in front of him find out. He had to face the reality of losing his son many times and he knew that the game had the power to be what did his boy in.

At Jughead's denial, FP turned, his eyes locked on his son. He could tell that Jughead was lying. The boy needed to work on his poker face better.]
Bullshit. Don't you lie to me boy! I know you have it! [He turned to Archie.] Where is it boy?

[Archie startled when FP addressed him, looking between his dad and FP. He knew that Jughead had some pieces of the game in his bag but he wasn't about to rat his friend out.] I don't know where the game is! We don't have it!

[FP knew that there was a possibility that Archie didn't know where the game was but he suspected he was just covering for his best friend.] Give me your bag, boy. [He'd tear the bag apart and if he didn't find the pieces there, he'd toss the boys' room.]

[Jughead glares slightly at his dad when he mentions that he knows what killed his classmates.]

No, dad, you don't know what killed them. It's not like they carved that shit into themselves!

[He clenches his jaw when his dad starts interrogating Archie. It's not like his best friend would know where anything was at, not unless it was in their room.

Fred raises a brow when his boy says that they don't have it. But notices how Jughead was protecting his bag too.]

That's the problem, son! Do you think your classmates would have done that on their own? Or drank from a cup mixed with cyanide if they were in their right minds? Something, someone involved in the game is the cause of it!

[FP's patience wore thin when Jughead didn't hand his bag over and Fred called the boys out on their poor lying skills.]

Fine. I'll start with your room. Fred you can help with Archie's side. [FP glared at the boys before storming up the stairs to their room.]

[Archie was out of his spot on the couch when FP left for their room.]

Exactly. SOMEONE. Not the game itself.

[His eyes widen a bit when his dad starts upstairs, Fred not that far behind him. It has him up out of his seat in an instant.]

Dad! Fred!

[Fred gives a nod before heading up the stairs towards the boys' room. It didn't matter what the boys protested over, it was still going to happen.]

[FP entered the boys' bedroom and went straight for Jughead's side of the room. He tossed the mattress to see if anything was underneath it, looked under the bed before going to the dresser. Opening drawers, he emptied the contents of the drawers onto the ground. He wasn't planning on leaving anything unchecked but he figured he'd give his boy another opportunity to fess up.]

Tell me where the game is. There is going to be hell to pay if we find any part of the game in this room so you might as well tell me.

[It did not escape FP's notice that Jughead's bag was left unattended downstairs. After he finished with their room, he would be tearing that bag apart and confiscating the laptop.]

[To be honest? Jughead's kind of forgotten about the damn messenger bag. Especially when his old man was heading straight up to their room.

A room that was being turned into a complete and total mess. This was just... it was messed up. Even more so when he sees Fred cross over to Archie's side of the room, tossing the mattress and looking under the bed, through the dresser. All the contents ending up on the floor.]

I've got nothing to tell you.

[It's said through a clenched jaw even as Fred moves over to start on the nightstand.]

[Archie couldn't believe that his dad and FP were going through their stuff and making the mess that they were. He was fairly confident that they would not find the pieces of the game that they had hidden in their room as their fathers were looking in the wrong places, that is until FP headed to the closet and Fred to the nightstand.]

You guys need to stop! You're not going to find anything!

[FP didn't expect that Jughead was going to give up the location of the game pieces so the search continued. FP moved to the closet, rooting through the clothes and all of the contents. He pulled a shoebox down from the shelf and the lid slid right off, revealing one of the two chalices. Holding it up to his son, he glared at him.]

You boys want to try again? I thought you told me that you don't have the game.

[He watches as his dad and Fred just start tossing everything. The prince is pretty damn sure that him and his best friend were the ones that were going to end up cleaning the room.

When his dad heads to the closet and Fred to the nightstand, his blood runs cold. Shit... He'd had that as far back in the damn closet as possible too.

When Fred dumps out the contents of the nightstand he narrows his eyes on the boys, picking up the second chalice.]

[FP glanced over to Fred when he located the second chalice and then back to the boys, who looked like they were a flight risk at the moment. FP wasn't worried about it. The Serpents outside would drag the wayward teens back inside if they tried to flee.]

Where's the rest of the pieces, boy? Don't give me some bullshit story that you don't have them.

[Archie paled when his dad found the chalice. He wanted to grab Jughead and run. Their dad's had a mess to navigate which would give them enough time to get to the front door. The only thing that was keeping Archie where he was was the fact that running would likely make this situation 100 times worse for them.]

He crosses his arms over his chest and shakes his head.]

[FP didn't believe the boys either and he knew the second thing that he needed to tear apart was sitting unattended downstairs. FP stormed from the room and passed the boys, the chalice still in his hands. He went down to the living room and grabbed Jughead's messenger bag. He opened it, removing the laptop from the bag and then started to rifle through the contents of Jughead's bag. The laptop he would be keeping.]

Boy, you're grounded for the unforseeable future or until you bring me the rest of the game pieces. You will go to school and then come home. You won't be seeing your laptop for a long time either. I suggest taking more paper with you to school tomorrow.

[It's almost like a punch to the gut when he realizes what the hell his dad was going after now. We're sure that FP wasn't going to find anything at first, mainly the laptop and school work.

If he's really paying attention to the bag though he'd find a hidden seam that held the rest of the game. Or, at least, the dice and figures.]

I need my laptop for school, dad!

[He'd followed them down and sees the look on Fred's face too, feeling that knife twist a bit deeper.]

That goes for you too, Archibald. And whatever else FP decides to do with you boys.
