If Finn Hudson was honest with himself, he really hated himself for the fact that he just couldn't go along with Quinn's plan of ignoring the fact that she was pregnant entirely and giving the baby up for adoption which he really wished he could just agree to because God he sucked and didn't even deserve to be around Drizzle at all, not even as some bullshit fake whatever he'd be to her if they gave her up. Nothing, that was what he'd be. Quinn insisted that wasn't true, that Drizzle would still love him,but Finn didn't understand how she would or why. Drizzle's actual parents would be the ones she loved, she would maybe barely tolerate him. Except that, despite Finn's attempts to fix what he'd done when Dad had come home from his deployment and found out about Drizzle, much to Finn's surprise Quinn had given up hiding the fact that he had knocked her up. Sure, she was like six months along now (Finn tried not to think about it) and her bump was like totally noticeable (and her awesome boobs! Not that Finn would ever do anything but look), but if Quinn had wanted to pretend she was just gaining a lot of weight from some...feminine thing, he would have gone along with it. She was even letting him feel little Drizzle kick, which the little thing seemed to do a lot of. Poor Drizzle was confused, Finn decided. There was no other explanation for the little baby liking him enough to kick for him. She clearly thought he was going to be her dad, no matter how many times Finn read her that stupid note he'd wrote. Finn was confused too, given that the other day when they had been with other people Quinn had mentioned having cravings (things that Drizzle liked, Finn reminded himself) and had encouraged Finn to interact with her bump. He wondered if Quinn had been replaced by a robot, but hadn't wanted to start a fight when they were semi-getting along, so he had played the role of dutiful boyfriend and done as he was told. Which brought them to now. Well, that wasn't the entire thing. See, Finn had noticed that the Quinn that was preggers with twins (and was keeping them) and the chick version of him, and super preggers Rachel, were all like totally ready to pop. And even though Finn wanted to just...pretend that putting Drizzle up for adoption wasn't going to be a potential thing, it seemed stupid to not figure out what to do before Quinn was ready to pop. He didn't think it would get any easier. And he didn't want to put it off too long and have Drizzle decide to come before Finn and Quinn decided where she was going. That wasn't fair to Drizzle. So Finn had very bravely (at least in his mind, the reality was the exact opposite) told Quinn that he wanted to talk about baby Drizzle because he didn't want baby Drizzle to have to go to a scary baby jail before she got parents, or whatever. Finn knew that baby jail was a thing. At least, he thought it was. Finn was sort of nervous, but mostly resigned to the fact that they needed to talk about it, whether he wanted to or not. It was the right thing to do for Drizzle's sake. Even if the answer he got made him want to pull away from the baby even more than he already wanted to. That would be the right thing to do for Drizzle's sake too. Quinn came into the living room and he got off the couch, rationalizing that even though they might be giving up the baby Quinn was still pregnant and he should offer to help make sure she was comfortable and give her a hug and stuff. Finn loved Quinn so much. It was the main reason he was trying to accept things. He didn't want to force her into something she hated for the sake of his feelings. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing her softly, saying nothing about her bump brushing against him. "I thought we should talk about...her," he said softly, gesturing to Quinn's belly, flushing slightly. "I want to make sure that we're on the same page with her before you get super preggers like other Quinn and the Rachel and the chick me," he said. "We should decide what to do with her before she's born." He reached out to touch her bump, before deciding against it. There was probably no point. "Uh, you said that you didn't care what we ate but I couldn't decide so I got us pizza and chinese. I know you're trying to be healthy and stuff, so I got you and Drizzle your salad, too." Finn wrinkled his nose at the mention of salad. "Come, sit," he said. "I can make you a plate, you should rest." |
