Katy did like Shawn a lot, despite her resolve to not get too attached. She'd tried to move on with her life after Shawn dumped her--expecting a guy like that to not last long helped some--but it wasn't long before he was back in her life. The smart thing to do would probably have been to push him away and tell him she was done, but she did like him and he seemed sincere. She just didn't know if she could trust his brand of sincerity. She needed... time to figure that out, which was what she had been doing. Dating him cautiously, non-committally, while trying to figure out if she really wanted to be with him for the long term.
She'd finally posted to the network to ask advice and apparently found an older version of Shawn who tried to tell her what his younger self was like. He seemed to think she should go for it. It still scared her, though.
After she and Bobbie Jo finished their set, she started to unplug the amps to get ready to go. She glanced up when Shawn came over and smiled softly. "Thanks. It felt good to be on stage again."
