Who: Finn and Finley
What: Being a good uncle
Where: Granny's/Carole's maybe?
When: after Kurt's network post
Warnings: TBD
Status: Closed/in progress.

Finn didn't know that he really approved of Kurt's handling of what Finn was henceforth referring to as The Incident. There were like a million things about it that bothered him, starting with the fact that Kurt had said to him that Blaine would kill him if he told people and then went and told people. Finn didn't know what to make of it. Wasn't that impolite? He had been planning on lecturing Kurt on that when he had noticed how upset Finley was. Finn loved Finley, she was his niece, and he didn't understand why Blaine had been so rude to her on his post or why Kurt was saying she wasn't his daughter. Of course Finley was Kurt's daughter, that was how she was his niece, Finn wasn't that oblivious to how familiar connections worked. But whatever. Finley was upset and had asked Finn to come get her and he had decided that she came first.

Finn parked his truck in front of Granny's, somehow managing to not fuck up the whole parallel parking thing, and he killed the engine, deciding that leaning on the horn to get her attention wouldn't help the situation at all. Sometimes he could read people.

"Hey," he said softly, enveloping her in a hug before offering her a napkin for her face. "Come here, it will be alright." Girls liked that, right? When they were reassured? "We can go on a drive if you want, I have some time to kill before Aunt Rachel will be home from work."

"You...you wanna talk about it?"

The way that people were brought to Storybrooke could make it hard to stand. People being related to other people, different time, different universes. It didn't make it easy on anyone. It was hard to find a place to feel safe. It used to be with her family but that wasn't the case anymore. They weren't together there and for the most part she accepted that. Still there was parts of her that hated it.

She had gotten so upset talking to a version of her father, one that couldn't even begin to understand. Not that she felt that anyone could. It was different for those that had come from the futures. It's hard to see a world painted with a different brush. She just wanted to escape it all.

It was all that bad though. She got to meet her uncle and he seemed to care for her. She was glad that he came when she needed him. When he hugged her, she wrapped her arms around him tightly. She didn't want to let go. She hid her face in his chest and started to cry. Not able to answer his questions.

Finn was a bit taken aback by Fin's hug, but he held her closely, running his hand up and down her back to comfort her. He really didn't know what to say. This was his niece and his brother was being a douche to her. Forget about how Blaine had acted. He had never wanted to punch someone more. Or maybe beat him with his crutch. That was a delicious fantasy.

"I didn't have a dad growing up," Finn said quietly, stroking her hair. "It really really sucked. So I can understand how you're feeling, at least a little bit." He sighed. "I thought he died a hero but I guess he just didn't love me enough to want to stay alive."

"I wish that they hadn't said those things to you," he added. "They were rude and uncalled for. And...you're awesome. You're special and it's bullshit that they don't see that."

"You want to see a picture of your baby cousin?" Finn offered. Maybe that would cheer her up.
