WHO Kyle & Isabel. WHAT Buddha Boy got a memory bump and Isabel gets her BFF back. WHERE Casa de Evans-Whitman. WHEN Shortly after this.
Isabel's foot bounced impatiently as she sat, legs crossed, on her living room sofa. She hadn't thought things through when she'd agreed to doughnuts for her and Kyle. Doughnut runs took time and Isabel wanted to see him now. It wasn't that she hadn't appreciated having him here before, because of course she had. She loved any version of Kyle Valenti. But she also couldn't deny that her heart still ached all the time for all the memories between them that he'd never know. He was Kyle, but he wasn't her Kyle. He wasn't her best friend.
So of course her hopes immediately skyrocketed after seeing his post. She desperately wanted to believe that the magic surrounding this town had somehow gifted Kyle those missing memories. That it had given her back one of the most important people in her life. But she needed to really see him to make sure. And instead of telling him to just get his stupid ass over to the house, she'd agreed to doughnuts. She blew a lock of blonde hair out of her eyes and told herself to chill out. Not that she listened.
When she heard Kyle's car pull into the driveway, she was on her feet in an instant. She very nearly ran to open the door before he even had a chance to get up the walk, but somehow she restrained herself. He knocked and she moved to open the door with a smile. "Hey!" The sweet scent of the pastries hit her then and she was suddenly glad he'd stopped to get them. "Oh my god, those smell amazing."
