Sitting in the hallway of the hospital with traces of blood on his arms wasn't how Johnathan expected to spend his day. He thought he'd go to work, maybe help a few people, and go home to call it a day when the shift was over. But no - someone reported that there may have been a person down nearby and he took off to do the only thing he knew how to do: help. To say he was shaken up would be an understatement. As he sat hunched forward with his elbows on his knees and hands hanging down, the only thing on his mind was why. Why did it have to be her? It could have been anyone in town. Why did it have to be someone he knew? And someone he called a friend, at that. He sighed, trying to shake the feeling of anxiousness off. They'd pronounced her a few minutes ago after trying to bring her back. Johnathan helped with the efforts, aiding in a round of CPR until they said the words he didn't want to hear ringing in his head. Time of death... He felt himself flashing back to the hospital when he parents were pronounced dead, when the doctors came out and apologized that there was nothing more they could do. God, it was a shitty feeling. He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and realized he should clean up. And go back there for his device that he'd dropped in the process of carrying Hope over. Whether or not he could go back was a question in itself that he'd face soon, he realized as he got to his feet and started off down the hallway. |
