===========================
Scorpius had found himself relieved to know that his best friend was here. Albus Severus Potter, whom he had known for seven plus years, and was also in Slytherin like himself. He couldn't explain it, but they'd always gotten along quite well together through the school years. Possibly from having famous parents during the war on opposite sides, not to mention the next generation had reputations based upon the parents. And yet, strangely, there was likely much more than that. He had feelings within himself since their fourth year, stirrings, longings that those who were more than friends could identify with.
But he could never completely allow himself to express those inclinations on his part. There were moments when an accidental graze or touch gave him pause, as well as dreams that he never would reveal to anyone. What if his friend did not share the sentiment, or worse, what if it changed things between them in negative ways? Out of all his friends in school, Albus was the closest and he never wished to jeopardize that. He often wished it were different. Sometimes he was tempted to just give in, confess it, or make a daring move and hope for the best. However, Scorpius Malfoy was nothing if not cautious, in many things. Logic and rational common sense would always win out. But in the back of his mind, there was always the "what if" possibility that continued to tempt him.
But right now? He would be quite happy to see him again. Stuck in that other universe? Without ever seeing his best mate, or even any of the Malfoy family? There had been his father, but only in brief. There was Rose and Lily, but not Albus, even once. Here, though. Here was what gave him hope. After what almost felt like forever. A couple years can feel like eternity when you don't know when you can be freed of it. At least now he had a chance, to see friends again.
And just as he said, he had apple pie in his bedroom, with white frosting on top. He also had a couple empty glasses and a bottle of Scotch for drinking as well. He had cause to celebrate, after all! Doing great at quidditch practice, but also knowing that Al would be over soon. He couldn't help smiling at the chance of seeing him once again. Finally after that crazy time in Kansas, things could go well for once. He waited in the living room now, periodically checking the window. Which had curtains magicked to be the color of green and silver. In fact, many things in the house were of that color.
