Who: Bea and Elle
When: Tuesday
Where: The roof of Granny's
What: Bea has a total emotional meltdown
Rating: PG-13, Just some language
So... where exactly did our favorite crazy little succubus bitch run off to?
She was sitting on the roof of Granny's, wearing a tiny, form-fitting flowered dress with black combat boots, knees pulled up to her chest as she cried, tears streaming down her face as she rested her forehead against her knees. While she might have seemed manic and psychotic when Victor had seen her,now she just seemed defeated. Devastated. Destroyed emotionally.
Yeah... anyone who knew her would find this scene incredibly disturbing, considering how goofy and fun-loving she typically was...
It wasn't hard to find Bea. Living among vampires, Elle had learned to look in high places, so it was easy to find Bea weeping on the roof.
Coming up the fire escape, she took the girl in her arms and pulled her close.
"What's wrong?"
"It's his birthday, you know..." Bea whimpered, clearly a little delirious. Whatever was upsetting her had her completely off her nut right now. She let Elle pull her in, without so much as an inappropriate comment "It's his birthday and he can't even have cake or presents or ME..." she babbled, eyes wide and frantic as tears streaked down her cheeks. "And it's MY FAULT. He's not here, and its all my fault..."
"Shhh. Who? Who are you talking about? I'm right here. You can tell me anything, you know. Vic and I love you. We will get you through this."
"I can't do it... I can't see Vic..." Bea whimpered, snapping out of it a little when she heard Elle's voice, oddly. "Or you... he's already dead because of me... I don't want anything to happen to you guys..." Good lord, she was actually SHIVERING now. "I'm a time bomb, Elle. I'm a time bomb that explodes and kills everyone good that knows her..."
"We aren't leaving. We don't abandon our friends. So if you explode. We will explode with you. We love you Bea. Always."
"He loved me too... he said he was gonna marry me one day..." Bea sniffled, before finally relaxing a little and melting into Elle's arms. "And I got him killed. He loved me and all it got him was death..."
"Who did? Who was going to marry you, baby girl?" Elle was talking to her slowly and softly, doing whatever she could to calm the trembling girl.
"My boyfriend..." Bea said, closing her eyes tightly to hold back more tears. "My beautiful Diego... We were supposed to be a team... And I was reckless and stupid and he's DEAD because of me and i couldn't even join him because of my goddamn powers..."
"I didn't know you had a boyfriend. I'm so sorry." She kissed her on the head and held her close. "It's okay. I'm here. I'm here for you."
"No... I'M sorry. I try to protect you and Vic... to make amends... But it still isn't enough... it'll never bring him back." Bea sighed, all sign of her usual self just GONE. "It'll never give him back to any of us... It'll never erase the look on your faces... You all knew he deserved better than me from day one..."
"Okay, I have no idea what you're talking about. What look on our face? Who deserved better than you?"
"Diego did..." Bea said, her voice a defeated whisper. "You both hated the idea of us together. Your while family did... And in the end I proved you all right. I shouldn't have been a Young Avenger, and I shouldn't have been Diego's girlfriend."
"Honey, you aren't making a lick of sense. Who is Diego? I can't imagine the idea of ever hating you being with anyone. Why would my family care?"
"Haven't you ever wondered why I'm so goddamn protective of you guys, Elle?" Bea asked, flailing a little, which would have looked adorable had the little blonde not been so obviously heartbroken. "His name was Diego Mancha, Elle. He was your son. And I got him killed. I got the boy I loved killed..."
All Elle heard from that sentence was that she had a son. A son with Vic and that he was dead. He was dead and Bea was responsible. Her grip briefly tightened on the girl as if she meant to harm her, but instead she pulled the girl into a fierce hug and kissed the top of her head gently. "I forgive you."
"I don't..." Bea replied, tears once more streaming down her cheeks. "I tried to kill myself... I didn't deserve to live... But the cuts just kept healing... the gunshot even healed... I had to give up... I miss him so badly, Elle... I swear to you I'd give my life in a moment if it would bring him back."
"He would not want you to speak such foolishness and I don't either. I seriously doubt you got him killed on purpose. You don't have a mean bone in your body," she gently wiped the tears away fro his face, "I forgive you. Vic will fogive you. Diego forgives you. It's alright Bea, it's going to be alright."
"We were going into battle..." Bea said, trying to hold it together. "The Phalanx... they were so tough, we knew we had to go in with a plan. Diego was the heavy hitter... We were supposed to cover him while he prepared to go after Ultron... I was supposed to be flanking the right, but I got carried away and pulled a Leeroy Jenkins... it left Diego completely unprotected on that side, and he took a heavy blast from that bastard right to the chest."
"Ultron killed his own grandson?" Elle wanted to scream, instead she still held the girl. "It's not your fault and I don't blame you for anything. It's Ultron who will pay."
"I just feel like I should stay away... if I did something dumb and got you, or Vic, or God help me, TEA hurt or killed... I wouldn't be able to handle it..." Bea sighed and sniffled, snuggling into the woman who, in her time, she'd hoped would be her mother in law one day.
"You don't get to stay away. If anything happens to me, it's because of my own fucking mouth. I'm so sorry I didn't approve of you in the future. Was..." the tears were flowing down her face freely now, "was I a good mom?"
"I never really knew you guys but..." She smiled sadly, "you had to have been. Because Diego was the kindest, sweetest, most gentlemanly guy you could imagine. And you guys obviously loved him, because you tried to keep him away from me. You wanted him with someone good. Someone worthy."
"I can't imagine disapproving of you. Not with as much shit as Dad gives me about Vic," she shook her head, "I'm so sorry, but I don't blame you. Not at all. You obviously loved him very much to be wracked with such guilt and such pain. He was loved by you and that's all I could ever want for my child." She brushed Bea's tears away. "No more tears, no more guilt. We are going downstairs now. I'm going ot take you home."
"...take me to my girl?" Bea asked, looking and sounding more fragile and delicate than anyone in this town had ever seen her. "I need to fall asleep in her arms and just... try not to think about this anymore."
"Yes, I'll text Tea and have her come to your house and stay with you," she promised as she took out her phone and texted her quickly. Gathering Bea in her arms she began to help her down the step of the fire escape, rubbing her shoulder soothingly the entire time.
Thank God, Bea thought to herself as Elle practically carried her, Thank God I have friends like this in my life...
