Rescuing Lexa may have seemed impossible, but Clarke had been unwilling to give up. They were not just going to let her die out there. The hardest part was over now. Lexa was free. Clarke didn't take offense to her not taking her hand. It was probably a matter of pride. So long as Lexa got out and they could head home, she was happy. They had accomplished a difficult task. She was so proud to have Bellamy as a co-leader. But there would be time for those thoughts later, now they had to get moving.
She didn't mind Lexa's bossy nature. To her people, she was the commander. All three of them were leaders. Would they always get along? Probably not. But she and Bellamy worked so well together. And now they had Lexa and could head home. She occasionally glanced back at Bellamy, trying to make sure he was still okay. Clarke couldn't really feel anything, and she was so tired but she pushed on. They hadn't come this far to fail now.
She looked over at Lexa, as they reached the edge of town. This was it, they were almost home free. She was still shaking and chattering, as she tried to think of warm things. It seemed like an eternity, but they were finally at the house. She pushed the door open and stumbled inside, making sure that Lexa was still right with her, and that Bellamy was behind them.
Once all three of them were in the house with the door closed, she turned to hug Bellamy. "We made it." She said. And she was too optimistic to believe any of them would feel lasting damage. They were safe from the storm now. They could start the process of warming up, and then they would be okay.
