Re: part 4 do you know that in most sshg fics it's Severus who is considered unworthy for her?
Yes, which is one of the reasons I'm moving away from HGSS anymore. I get really tired of the ZOMG, Hermione is a Saint and all-powerful, and slimy Snape is so old and ugly and knows he's so unworthy, he's just grateful she lowers herself to talk to him. I think bohemianspirit talked about that on snapedom once as the ones where Snape is a walking DSM-V. ;-) And stories in which she (and everyone else) believes everything she did is just, right and holy are repulsive. Of course, there's also the extraordinarily nasty, ZOMG, the great, powerful Snape rescued Granger by raping her--how dare she not be grateful? I think reading those has colored my perception of most HGSS fics. (NOTE I say most--not all, and certainly not yours).
But, for the record, I do think Snape ALSO needs to do some growing up before he's worthy of her. ;-)
I'm almost tempted to start a 'shipping challenge: Snape and Granger (with other pairings eventually) on snapedom, where these things can be discussed.
PLEASE don't! You know that would end up being very nasty, if not on the site itself, then on other journals. The lack of shipping wars is part of what makes snapedom fun.
You treat Hermione as an adult.
Well, she is in this story by this point. And part of the problem is that she demands to be treated as an adult, even in canon. So it's not fair to say she should have the power of an adult, but not the responsibility. The two are supposed to go hand in hand. Of course, note "supposed to", because in RowlingWorld, which power exempts the powerful from responsibility.
a bossy little know-it-all who is completely loyal to her best friends, but, if we're honest, gets little back.
Which is another characteristic of RowlingWorld. It is the role expected of girls and women, and what they get back (if they are "good little women") is marriage to their school sweetheart.
And with Dumbledore as moral guidance - shudder
Word. I trust part of what you are doing here is deprogramming her.
