part 4 I just am finding it hard to believe that Snape would trust this Granger so completely because she's competent, appears to admire him (although her actions say otherwise), and is obviously thinking about sex. Yes, he's a man and we all know how susceptible they can be to that. ;-)
Of course that's part of the reason. She is young and pretty, and this is what attracts men. Apart from that he may ask himself what she sees in an ugly old curmudgeon like himself. Someone who killed, betrayed, hated - and tries to make up for his mistakes. They are both human and have attractive and unattractive traits. Severus was in love with Lily, that stupid, shallow, careless Gryffindor girl. With Hermione he has a much better deal. She cares for him.
But she makes it clear in this chapter that not only does she not trust him, but she refuses to accept responsibility for the fallout from any of her actions (except to be proud of the gang rape that should have been avoided, that is).
She does no such thing, see above.
That's not a trustworthy individual, and Snape did not survive as long as he has by trusting people like that. Using them, yes. But not trusting them. And certainly not entertaining the idea of any kind of personal relationship with them.
That's your opinion. Mine is that Snape would know quite a bit about human follies and failures, including his own, although he isn't exactly keen to act on those. A charming spy has a lot more chances to spy than a prickly one. With a different behaviour he could have appeared to be more efficient for Voldemort, so being the unpleasant teacher he was wasn't realyl of any benefit for his cover. Favouring Slytherins - certainly. But for spying it is much more profitable to be trusted by 'the enemy' - and a Harry Potter who ran to Severus Snape for help and guidance would have been the perfect gift for Voldemort, pretended or otherwise. Severus didn't even remotely consider this option. So what is he, stupid and inefficient?
You, and everyone else who reads this, has to understand that we do this in good fun and without any anger (at least on my side). We're both on snapedom and love to discuss characters and their motivations. Sadly canon offers so little logic to back it all up.
Huggles to cardigrl. I take it as a compliment that a chapter of mine makes you think that much about my characters. :)
