I deleted my earlier comment because I realized how inappropriate it was to engage in a debate as though it was a discussion on snapedom. My apologies if you read it before I deleted.
I enjoyed reading this - a story of Snape finding the joy that has been denied from him.
And does Severus end up going to Durmstrang? I don't know why, but I can imagine him fitting in there, with its history of dark-magic and the terrible consequences of its use, and receiving respect from the other Durmstrang teachers. So I hope he goes. F**k Britain, if it's going to treat him so badly!
I like the way he had doubts about Hermione, and watching the way his mind processed these doubts.
I'm glad you had Severus talking of the happiness he experienced in his friendship with Lily, when they were younger. There must have been more to it than the sad fragments seen in the books.
Unlike so many readers who hate Hermione, she has always been one of my favorite characters, from the very first book. Hermione (when written by writers who like her) is always a delight to read, and your Hermione very much so! I like your portrayal of her as a fiercely intelligent, loyal and passionate woman, who makes up her mind about things. After all, that's Hermione as she has been all along.
