Post Graduation Mingling

That's it, they've GRADUATED!

[info]shs_knights

CLASS OF 2013 GRADUATION!

The students sat in their seats, playing with their navy and white caps and gowns. Some turned to wave to friends and family, some whispered with classmates sitting near them, and some slouched in their chairs, ready for the ceremony to start.

It had taken four years, some felt like the time had passed in no time at all, others felt it had dragged out forever. All the winter lodge trips, boy toy auctions, homecomings, proms, dances, parties. The trips to Disney World, California, Australia. The hook ups, the break ups, the scandals. This class had been through a lot together, and this was it. The end. Graduation.

you know this is still the simple answer - mark z. danielewski

He wasn't sure what to think of his and Katie's text message conversation. He knew, very much so, that he was nothing but a coward. If he hadn't been, he would have gone to see Katie instead. But he hadn't and from what he could tell, him and Katie were basically over. Just like that. Which was kind of disturbing for him, because they dated for all of two months or something.

Woody never thought he was that guy. The kind that would only really date someone for a couple months and just not be able to keep it going. But, he supposed he was. Although - his last relationship had lasted for several months longer than his and Katie's.

He wasn't even sure what provoked a relationship between him and Katie. They had hardly said two words to each other and than WHAM! Committed relationship.

Woody read the messages again, shaking his head, because he really wasn't sure. All he knew was that there was someone waiting - who wanted him. And who he was kind of sure in that moment he wanted, because at least she had fought for him.

hey, He pounded quickly into his phone, no one's home. wanna come over? ;)

No one even knew him and Trisha had each others numbers. They discussed long ago that any contact between them would be under aliases. Which is why less than a minute later, a message from 'Faith' popped up on his screen.

guessing you got rid of katie? good job. i'll be right there. you'd better be ready for me.

Sometimes her messages made Woody feel so dirty. He knew it would just be sex and they'd cuddle afterward. But sometimes she seemed almost like a prostitue in how she spoke to him. He shrugged.

you know i will be.

Katie was avoiding him. It was obvious. She had basically ran from his house that night he met her parents. And Trisha was to blame. Trisha hadn't been around either, which confused him even more. He supposed since his sister went back to school, Trisha found she didn't have an excuse to come around his house.

In a way, he was also avoiding Katie. Every time he saw her in the hallways, he would duck into a classroom or the restroom. He hadn't called. Or really made any point to contact her. He knew she was pissed. But, surely, she didn't think everything that occurred that night was his fault.

He knew he needed to at least contact her. She deserved an I'm sorry, if nothing else.

Woody fished his cell phone from his pocket. He was a coward. He quickly typed out a message and hit send before he could change his mind.

hey

Your family is my family and my family... is not yours.

Katie was to meet Woody's family. She knew it. She had been invited over to his house and they would be there. To her dismay. She hated meeting families, it Always made hers seem so inadequate. She didn't have much to show when people came to her house, other than her unbelievably cute Little sister. But Olivia were usually on play dates these days; Katie had arranged it that way. She didn't want her sister with him. She wanted her to be safe.

Either way. She stood outside of Woody's house. "Ring the door bell, ring the door bell." And she did. "Oh stupid, why did you do it?!"

I wanna know what love is. I want you to show me.

Katie had waited. A long time, for her. She couldn't remember a relationship that she'd entered without intimate relations. She and Woody had kissed, long and deeply, and there had been some upper body activity but she hadn't let him get near her, in fear of getting too Close. She didn't want Another baby lost. And she was scared to let somebody touch her, just because the last time she'd been touched it had been by a doctor who scraped out her dead baby. No, not baby. Fetus. But baby. Oh, she was confused. But tonight was the night. She could feel it.

"Hey Wood?" she said softly.

I miss you. And I think I might love him

Katie stood outside of Woody's room. It was the first time she would visit him on this trip and she was nervous. She would invade his privacy. She picked up her cellphone and pressed dial. His number.

Happy V-day

Katie sat at school, chillaxing with a diet pepsi and her iPod, skillfully stolen at the electronics store in Stamford. She was listening to You Ku'uipo, local Music from her home far away, when she saw Woody. She waved him over.

"Hi" she said.

weeknight boredom

Woody slumped into his bed, his head clanging against his headboard - but not too hard. "So what do you want to do, boss?" He asked, staring pointedly at Trevor, who was sitting in his desk chair.

"Weeknights are always so boring in the 'brook." He continuing, shrugging his shoulders.

Woody laid back on his bed, his head against the wood frame of his headboard. His room was messy, as always, and his mom continuously bugged him to clean it. And every time his mother bothered him to, his Grandpa Teddy would reply with a, "Oh leave him alone, Jilly, he is seventeen years old."

He was so lucky to have such a cool grandpa who always took his side of the matter. Kicking the messy cover and sheet to the bottom of the bed, with his still shoe-ed feet, he grinned at Trevor.

"Sorry about the mess." He wasn't sure why he was apologizing, with all the times Trevor had come to his house over the years, he should be used to it by then, but he apologized anyway as he surveyed the extent of his mess. Clothes were spewed everywhere, glasses that used to hold water or pop were on most of the surfaces - and would be there until his mother came in to reclaim them - and papers from all the times he messed up his Calculus homework were thrown about.

He shrugged.

I wish it was me.

Katie was going crazy hearing all about Logan and Cokie's baby. All she could think was That should be me that should be me that should be me and it was driving her nuts. She'd gone jogging to forget about the fact that her womb felt empty and that she'd driven her own baby out of her body. And the baby shoes in her drawer. It was cold, but she enjoyed it. She was wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants only to feel the chill. Her mother and step father had commented on her looks:
'Those look like hip hop pants' her mom had said.
'All pants look like hip hop pants on Kate' her step father had answered.
And so it was.

She suddenly stopped short. Somebody had just said her name. And she didn't want to be rude or pretend she had music playing so she stopped.

"Hi" she said, wiping a strand of sweaty hair out of her face.

late night conversation

It was quite late in Stoneybrook, not to mention downright freezing. He had checked and they said it felt like twenty three degrees out or something. Freezing. But Woody still found himself sitting outside on the front porch, just kind of thinking and staring into the darkness. He wasn't thinking about anything in particular, but he did his best thinking in this spot.

He thought of the recent pictures he took for the yearbook and how he could arrange them in the book. He took it seriously and wanted it to look as best as he could make them. He thought of the essay that was due on Friday and of the test in Calculus also on the same day. He hates Calculus. It just didn't make sense to him.

Woody peered down the road. He saw a shadow walking in the darkness and wondered who could be wandering the roads at this time. It didn't matter too much, Woody thought of Stoneybrook as the safest place on Earth. Everyone knew everyone and no one truly seemed to wish ill upon others.

He maked out the shape of Howie, and smirked, "Sup?" He asked him as Howie started to pass by his house. He didn't think Howie could see him, but Howie was a friend of his, so he would have been rude to not acknowledge him.

togas are not all they are made out to be

Woody couldn't help but feel uncomfortable as he made his way around school Tuesday. His mom had constructed a toga out of an old white sheet and Woody had it wrapped around his regular school clothes. Since it was starting to get chilly outside and Woody had more than enough clothes on, the toga felt plain awkward and bulgy. He tugged at the belt around to loosen it.

So much for school spirit. He thought as he passed by a girl who was also clad for the day. They exchanged knowing glances and he grinned, "Nice toga."

He shook his head. It was too warm.
