Kristy surveyed the den with satisfaction. Snacks were set up, movies were out, and mattresses were strategically placed. Evereything a group of girls needed for an old fashioned sleep over. She only hoped Stacey and Dawn wouldn't break open the mud masks, or worse, the alcohol. She knew her friends peobably thought she was lame, but she didn't care. Kristy Thomas did things the Kristy Thomas way. She heard the bell ring and grinned.

Sunny sighed heavily as she took a bite of her chicken sandwich, more than slightly annoyed that there had been no real vegetarian options on the menu that day at lunch. She was totally bored. School was totally boring, even though she had friends in all her classes. She took another bite of her sandwich when Abby Stevenson came into view, and she motioned for her to join her.

"Hi, Abby," she said after she'd swallowed. "How are you?"

"You ready for this? I haven't gotten a thing done as far as getting ready for the trip." Abby asked Sunny as she picked her up that morning. They were going to Washington Mall.
