Trisha smiled gently, "Maybe once you've been around longer you could join in on our sleepovers," she turned to face Harriett again, "we have the best ones. Don't we?"
Harriett looked at Katie, "Yes. You will have to join sometime. I'd love to be your friend, since you are dating my little brother now." She wasn't being mean. Harriett was seldom mean. Maybe teasing, but she was never intentionally mean. She was actually very excited for her brother.
"What's the matter, sweetie?" Woody's mom asked Katie, eying her uneaten food, "Don't you eat meat?" She was suddenly very worried that she had served the girl chicken and she was really a vegetarian. She reminded herself to scold Woody when he returned.
Just then Woody reappeared. He took his seat, inching it as close to Katie's as possible. "Sorry about that."
