Mari's Christmas Party!!! When guests first arrive, they are greeted by Annie, Mari's 12-year-old sister. She offers to take their coats and gives them directions to the kitchen (where the drinks are), the dining room (where the food is), and the living room (for sitting/eating/talking/mingling/etc). She also makes sure they know about the sprig of mistletoe hanging over the entrance to the living room, so that they won't get caught under it if they don't want to. Mari came to say hello and welcome them a moment later. In lieu of an ugly Christmas sweater (not wanting to be in her own contest, after all!), she was wearing an ugly Christmas dress. The dining room table has an elaborate spread of food on it. Among the sugary goodies, there is an assortment of fudge, a variety of Christmas cookies, red velvet reindeer cupcakes, Santa hat brownie bites, Santa hat pretzels, and North Pole cupcakes. A little further down, guests will find Santa crackers, chili and cheese spirals, a snowman cheese ball, a mini sausage wreath, a veggie wreath, a fruit Christmas tree, and a vegetable Christmas tree. The drinks were in the kitchen, and included hot chocolate (along with whipped cream/marshmallows/peppermint sticks for whoever wanted them!), hot apple cider, eggnog, regular punch, and cute Christmas-themed drinks like this and this. She also had soda and water, if someone didn't care for any of those drinks. Mari loves white Christmas lights, so the living room has a lot of those in it. Some are strung up around the walls, and some are in jars around the room. A bag of presents is next to the tree for the White Elephant Gift Grab Bag. To make sure there's enough seating, Mari also brought in the chairs from the dining room and set them around the edge of the room. The first part of the party would most likely be eating, talking, and mingling. Once people have finished eating, Mari would take a vote to see what people wanted to do next. She has Christmas-related games, regular games (that are fun with large groups!), or the Christmas carol sing-along. Or, if someone else has a suggestion, she's open to other ideas, too! She just wants to have a fun time where nobody vomits, passes out, or is impregnated. XD The party lasted from 7:00 p.m. — 11:00 p.m., but people are free to come and go whenever they'd like. Although Mari's sister was there at the start of the party, she'll be in the kitchen for the first hour or so, helping refill food trays. She wandered up to her room, bored, at about 9:00 p.m. So you don't have to worry about her getting in the way of anything! Oh, and I also have Kara at the party against her will. She was hired to play the piano for the sing-along (if it happens), and will most likely be parked on the piano bench for the entirety of her stay at the party, shooting unwelcoming looks at anyone who ventures too close. I'm not sure if any of my others are there, yet. OOC NOTES: You guys can make up whatever gifts your kids receive in the grab bag, and what games (if any) they play. I guess if we have participants in the Ugly Sweater Contest, I'll decide on a winner/gift later on in the thread. She didn't provide alcohol at her party, but I suppose people could still sneak it in. ALSO! Even though Mari wants her party to be drama free, we all know that doesn't usually happen. So, I'm totally open to dramarama happening at the party and ending up on Flair. **THE PUNCH IS NOW SPIKED!** |
