Just then, the phone in Cokie's pocket chirped. She had a feeling it was Grace texting her, wondering where she was. Reaching into the pocket of her cut-offs, she pulled her phone out and turned it off. Flinging the phone onto the hall table, she turned to face Logan.
"I thought I did," she told him seriously. "You know, back when the whole Mary Anne debacle was happening, I liked you, but I mostly just wanted what she had." She looked down at her hands and studied her nails, so she wouldn't have to look at him. "Then, more recently, I kind of just enjoyed making you squirm." She looked up at him and shrugged. "And now I think I want you, Logan."
She didn't know she was going to say it until the words were out of her mouth and it was too late to take them back now.
