She would never admit it out loud but Olwen was still having a bit of trouble adjusting to small town life. The bustle of Boston was hugely different from the charming but much quieter Moon Lake. It was growing on her though. Maggie was at the age where everything was a wonder and it was beginning to be infectious. The days had events had kept her daughter fascinated for most of the day until eventually she had fallen asleep at the chair they had claimed earlier.
Olwen had hoisted the five year old on her back and began to trudge back to her car. It didn't take long before she felt herself start to lose her grip on her daughter and the bags that traveling with a little one required.
"Hey!" she called out as she approached a fire pit with an occupant in one of the chairs. "I'm sorry to intrude but...Can I borrow a chair for a minute?" She set her bag down in the sand and then went through the work of moving her daughter to the chair nearest her.
"She is so much heavier than she looks." She exhaled and pushed a strand of red hair that had fallen out of her braid back behind her ear. "Like a tiny adorable sack of potatoes."
