[Terrible dreams -- no, terrible memories -- wake him and leave him wanting to crawl out of his own skin. He feels trapped in this room, like he's suffocating. He's surprised to find that he's not locked in. He wonders if he should be. He rips a page out of his dream journal and jots a note telling Steve he went for a walk, just in case his Best Friend comes by.
He takes the journal and a pen with him. Leaving the tower is surprisingly easy, but it's the middle of the night and he assumes most people are sleeping. It's the first time he's been outside on his own since Steve had turned all of them into the Avengers.
He's left the tower accompanied a few times -- with Steve, with Sam. But not alone.
He doesn't really know where he's going until he ends up at the docks. Specifically at Sam's boat. He's been here a handful of times, has helped make some minor repairs and done some painting on it. He likes it here.
He climbs onto the boat and lays down, curled up on the floor of it, writing about his nightmares. Then he falls asleep.]
