[She's been working her way up to using her powers while turned off, but she didn't expect this. She's staring at herself in the mirror and she rips the collar to shreds with her mind. She blasts the cage open with her telekinesis and the guards who run at her burst open into a million pieces as they try to stop her. She finds Sebastian and sucks his life force out of him with a scream.
She's a Phoenix. She leaves the club and Stepfurt is on fire. She started it. She has all the power. It feels amazing. Annie appears and hugs her. Everything around them bursts into flames. She picks Annie up and flies them to HYDRA's base. The other soldiers explode. Helmut Zemo's syringes all inject into him at once and he falls to the ground in an excruciating death. She rips the door off to Evan's room with her mind and reaches out for his hand with hers.
She flies with both of them to her throne of fire. It's happy. They're free. It's what she wants. It's... within her reach. The screams of the civilians get louder and louder. Another version of herself walks up to them. Her POV switches to the new Jean. She sees Evan, she sees Annie, but she's not looking at herself. She's looking at a Phoenix made of fire. It's trying to seduce her.
This could be yours, it coos. Let me set you free.
She looks around. Everyone else is either dying or dead. Everyone who tries to approach them explodes immediately as if there's a forcefield around them.
Jean, don't, another voice whispers, pleading. She knows it. Professor X. She's met him once before. He's not here. Remember who you are.
Everything goes black. She wakes up in her cage, the collar is on her. She tries to destroy it with her powers, but has no access. Cap's here to pick her up for a training session with Evan.]
