Narrative
Watching the news at night and paying attention to those around him has become his way of life in Stepfurt. As per usual, the Avengers run the city, and everyone bows down to whatever they say and do. That James isn't picked to be the version to be Steve Rogers' right hand man surprises him at first, but it's easy to see that something is wrong with Rogers. He wishes he was surprised. But great power goes to everyone's head eventually. He'd known it was coming. It had been inevitable.
He approaches James one afternoon in late September, ignoring the tug of sympathy he feels at the dark circles beneath the other man's eyes.
"He's going to have to be stopped, James." His own voice is quiet, regret in his eyes.
James scowls at him. "Stay out of it," he warns.
He tilts his head, studying the other man. "If he were himself, don't you think he would want to be stopped?"
At that, James falls silent and he looks away.
"Sometimes...it is better to be ended by someone that you love than to continue hurting people that love you." He watches for a moment when the other says nothing. "I'll leave you to consider what I've said."
