There was a sting in his chest and his heart felt like it was trying to crawl down into his stomach again. He should never have opened his mouth, he should have just gotten his stuff and left it at that. His back was pressed against the railing, he wanted to disappear, he didn't know what to say, barely dared to say anything in fear of just making it worse. Nik was scary when he was angry, Davan shrinking back, and he didn't really realize it, but it seemed almost like the light around him had been sucked away, leaving him somewhat shadowed, further than was natural.
"I'm sorry" he finally said, softly, as it was the only thing he could really think of saying.
