Drabble Fic: Dark Queen Rising (XIII - XV)
Title: Dark Queen Rising (XIII-XV)

Summary: An alternate Sith plan and the hunt begins. An AU SW story told in drabbles (100 word segments.)

XIII.
That night, Leia lay next to her brother in bed, talking incessantly. There was no need to speak, but the sound soothed her, or so she claimed, prattling on about the day's events, down to the sunset, which was redder than any she'd ever, ever seen before.
Luke stared at the ceiling as Leia's voice bounced off of walls that seemed to be closing in around them.
"If you're going to go, you'd better do it now," he said, not meeting her eyes. "But, to be honest, I'm not sure Mother won't find out."
Only then did Leia go silent.

XIV.
His offering was simple. A handful of flowers clutched in his hand and Luke knelt before giving them to his mother, not sure of how she'd receive them.
Other gifts hadn't gone over well, especially if they were intended to avert punishment. Usually a present just made things worse, but Luke hadn't been bad and maybe that's the thing Amidala was missing when she accepted them.
"How lovely, angel" she exclaimed, placing the blooms in a dry vase. She cupped his cheek affectionately. "But where is your sister?"
"I don't know," Luke lied and he bent to kiss her hand.

XV.
She had the saber moves of a prodigy.
Her father was torn between pride and horror as Leia slaughtered his jailors with lightning moves. He gathered the Force around her, trying to infuse Leia with calm, to little avail.
There is no other way, he tried to rationalize, as his bonds broke and he was able -- at last -- to scoop his child into his arms.
"We need to get out of here," Leia admonished and Anakin nodded.
He took her hand and they ran, but part of his soul remained there, with his son, whispering, I'm coming back.
